Our First Father’s Day

I’ve watched you grow so quickly over the past 6 months—it’s hard to believe this time last year you were in your mother’s womb kicking so hard we thought you would emerge as a soccer player, complete with a jersey and cleats.

When you first appeared into our world, splashes of sunlight exploded in my eyes and exuberance overwhelmed me.

In the delivery room, where we first laid eyes on you, we could not help but shed tears of joy.  All of my life, I felt the urge to become a father and was thrilled when the opportunity presented itself.

Every day I wake up with you by my side, and all I can do is stare into your big eyes wondering what’s going on in your little mind. What are your dreams like? How will you grow up, what will you become, who will you be?

No matter what happens, you will always be my son, and I will always love you.
