LA Center of Photography Exhibition: March 24

March 22, 2022 by kwakualston

Come celebrate Black History with a pop-up exhibition: “Fresh As ____: Photographic Meditations from the Black Vanguard.” I’ll be presenting some of my Voodoo work for the first time in a gallery setting. The Voodoo series originally began when I visited Benin with Djimon Hounsou in 2006 when I was invited to photograph him on his return to Africa.  Little did I know, Voodoo was a part of everyday life in Benin. Ten years later, I was invited back to Benin […]

NOPE

March 20, 2022 by kwakualston

Stay tuned for the character […]

Tabitha Brown

January 30, 2022 by kwakualston

Congratulations to Tabitha for her #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER book, Feeding the Soul (Because It’s My Business): Finding Our Way to Joy, Love, and Freedom. An incredible accomplishment, especially for one’s first book that shares such a personal story. Our first time working together was with Southern Living Magazine last summer, where Tabitha shared her story of going vegan and some home cooking tips. Looking forward to seeing what other wisdom she has to share.

Photo21 Photography Auction x The AIDS Monument x Project Angel Food

January 27, 2022 by kwakualston

In December, Milk hosted PHOTO21’s photography event and live auction to benefit STORIES: The AIDS Monument & Project Angel Food.   it was a pleasant surprise to be awarded the Photo21 Photographer of the Year Award and recognized by such industry heavyweights.  I was not expecting this honor, and it served as a really special way to wrap up 2021.  As I looked at the beautiful prints by legends like Herb Ritts and Robert Mapplethorpe, it really felt like all […]
