My heart goes out to my friends in New York with the arrival of Hurricane Sandy–while this devestating storm ransacked the streets and skies, my Instagram feed filled up with both beautiful and daunting images. While there is other media footage broadcasted through the web and TV, I am most interested in seeing the storm through my friends’ eyes. It is touching and frightening to see their firsthand perspectives, and amazing to be able to share what is going on instantaneously with the rest of the world–combining the power of social media and art.
I take solace in knowing that they are safe and expressing themselves through photography, even in the darkest times.
